Lakshadweep - India's Hidden Island Paradise
Where the sea is still, and so are you.
The journey
Lakshadweep - India's Hidden Island Paradise

Thirty-six coral islands scattered across the Arabian Sea, and only a handful open to guests. Lakshadweep is the rarest kind of luxury - a place with almost nothing to do, and every reason to be there.

The destination
Lagoons so clear the boats appear to float on air, reefs that begin a few steps from your door, and islands measured in minutes rather than miles.
Access to Lakshadweep is deliberately limited - permits are capped, flights are few, and most islands remain closed to visitors entirely. What that protects is a version of the Indian coastline that has otherwise disappeared: living coral, unbroken sandbars and villages that still run on tide and prayer time.
This journey moves between three islands at a walking pace. Agatti for arrival and the long first evening, Bangaram for the lagoon, Thinnakara for the quiet. Nothing is rushed, and very little is scheduled.

Day by day
Lakshadweep - India's Hidden Island Paradise

- Day 01
Arrival in Agatti
The approach is the first experience. Your flight drops low over the atoll and the lagoon opens beneath the wing in bands of green and impossible blue. You are met on the runway - the airport is a single strip between two shores - and walked to your beachfront resort. The afternoon is yours to do nothing with. As the light goes, walk the western beach where the sunset arrives without a single building in the way.

- Agatti Beach
- Sunset Walk
- Day 02
Crossing to Bangaram
A private boat carries you across open water to Bangaram, a teardrop of sand ringed by one of the finest lagoons in the country. Settle into your cottage, then spend the day in water warm enough to forget you are in it. The lagoon is shallow and calm for hundreds of metres - swimming here feels less like sport and more like drifting.

- Day 03
Reefs and Thinnakara
Morning belongs to the reef. Local marine guides take you out to coral gardens where parrotfish, rays and reef sharks move through water with visibility measured in tens of metres. Later, cross to Thinnakara - uninhabited, unhurried, and edged by a sandbar that appears and disappears with the tide.
- Snorkelling (Optional)
- Thinnakara Island
- Coral Lagoons
- Day 04
Sandbars and the village road
Take a kayak out over the shallows at first light, when the water is glass and the only sound is your own paddle. The middle of the day is deliberately empty. In the afternoon, walk into the island village with a local host - coir workshops, tuna drying in the sun, a way of life shaped entirely by the sea around it.
- Kayaking (Optional)
- Beach Leisure
- Island Village Walk
- Day 05
The lighthouse and the long afternoon
Walk out to the old lighthouse for the view back across the atoll - the whole island legible at once, a green comma on a blue page. Afterwards, time with the community: a home-cooked island lunch, a conversation about monsoon seasons and fishing routes, and then the beach again, for as long as you like.

- Day 06
A day with nothing in it
The only day on the itinerary with no itinerary. Certified divers can head out to the drop-off with our dive partners; beginners can take a first supervised descent in the lagoon. Or stay on the surface entirely - paddleboard across the shallows, read in the shade, and let the day pass. In the evening, a farewell dinner is laid out on the sand.
- Free Leisure Day
- Optional Scuba Diving
- Paddleboarding
- Day 07
Glass water, then home
One last look at what is under all of it - a glass bottom boat over the coral gardens, where the reef reads like a map of everything you swam through. Then the boat back to Agatti and the short flight to the mainland, with the atoll shrinking behind the wing.

Important information
Lakshadweep - India's Hidden Island Paradise

Important information
- Lakshadweep entry requires a permit; we handle the application, but passports or valid ID must be shared at least 30 days before travel.
- Flights to Agatti are limited and weather-dependent. We build a buffer day into every booking on the mainland.
- Alcohol is not permitted anywhere in Lakshadweep except on Bangaram Island.
- The reef is protected. Reef-safe sunscreen only, and nothing is taken from the water - shells, coral or otherwise.
- Best season is October through May. The monsoon closes most island access from June to September.

The Velora difference
Most people come back from Lakshadweep unable to describe what they did there, because the honest answer is very little. That is the point of it. Seven days of water, sand and a horizon with nothing on it does something no packed itinerary can.
Fewer places.Longer stays.Deeper water.
Curated not compiled — luxury beyond destinations.
